Biography:

Mansoura Ez-Eldin was born in 1976 the Egyptian Delta. She graduated with a degree in journalism from Cairo University in 1998. She published her first short stories in the Arab press at the age of only 21. Her first short story collection Dhaw’a Muhtaz (Shaken Light) was published in 2001 and her first novel Maryam's Maze in 2004 (the English translation by Paul Starkey in 2007). She presently runs the book review section of the literary magazine Akhbar al-Adab and has been described as one of the most promising members of Egypt's vibrant new literary generation.
